The band confirm the sad news of his death in a statement

Riley Gale, the frontman for Dallas thrash metallers Power Trip, has died aged 35.

Power Trip released a statement to social media on Wednesday 26th August confirming the devastating news of Riley Gale's passing.

"Dear Power Trip fans worldwide, it is with the greatest of sadness we must announce that our lead singer and brother Riley Gale passed away last night,” Power Trip wrote.

"Riley was a friend, a brother, a son. Riley was both a larger than life rock star and a humble and giving friend. He touched so many lives through his lyrics and through his huge heart. He treated everyone he met as a friend and he always took care of his friends.

"We will celebrate Riley's life and never forget the great works of music, charity, and love that he left behind. You, the fans, meant so much to him, please know how special you are.

"If you have a memory of Riley please share it, no matter how small, as we remember him.

"Please respect our wishes for privacy during this time.

Riley Gale co-founded Power Trip in Texas in 2008 and went on to release two studio albums with the band – ‘Manifest Decimation (2013) and ‘Nightmare Logic’, plus the compilation album ‘Opening Fire: 2008-2014.”

Power Trip were due to tour the UK in April supporting Lamb of God, however the tour was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In June 2019, Power Trip played the Main Stage on the Saturday at Download Festival and were rapturously received by the Donington Park faithful.

They blew us away at Bloodstock 2018 with a ferocious set that had the crowd mass head banging, led by Riley's commanding stage presence and explosive on-stage energy:

Reacting to Riley Gale’s death, Body Count’s Ice T tweeted: “I just got the news.. He was only 35.. I’m devastated.. Still don’t know how… I’m speechless. So Fd up.. smh.”

Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg wrote: “So sad to hear of Riley Gale’s passing. I only had the good fortune of meeting him once, but he had a way of making you feel like you’d known him forever, instantly. Such a profound loss. Love and deepest sympathies to @powertriptx and everyone close to him.”
