Parkway Drive play secret set at Download Festival

Following weeks of speculation, the secret band took to The Dogtooth Stage at Download Festival this afternoon – Australian metalcore quintet Parkway Drive.

Back in late May, Download booker Andy Copping told Planet Rock listeners that a “big band” will play a secret set at this year’s Donington Park extravaganza.

With acts including Foo Fighters and Green Day among the names in the rumour mill, Copping ruled out a number of bands when he told Planet Rock backstage on Friday that it’s an act that’s played Download before.

This morning (16th June), Parkway Drive pretty much confirmed their slot when they shared a video of themselves arriving at a mystery location on a tour bus.

Under the caption ‘Where are we playing today?’, Parkway Drive said in the short clip: “I was trying to download the schedule but it’s not downloading for some reason. Look, won’t Download.”

As expected, at 3.45pm Parkway Drive took to a rammed-to-the-rafters Dogtooth Stage, which was so busy it was at least 20 deep outside.

For those lucky enough to get close enough, Parkway tore through a blistering six-song set featuring ‘Glitch’, ‘Prey’, ‘Vice Grip’, ‘Idols and Anchors’, ‘Bottom Feeder’ and ‘Wild Eyes.’
