Paramore fans rejoice! Drummer Zac Farro is back in the fold as a permanent member of the band.

Last night, the official Paramore website and all of the band’s social channels shared a psychedelic gif of a young Zac along with the caption “I’m back.” There’s also a t-shirt you can buy of the image for $25 (£20).

Although this left fans guessing as to whether this meant Zac was back in the band, moments later an email to the official Paramore mailing list 100% confirmed it with the subject line “Zac’s back.”

26-year-old Zac quit Paramore in December 2010 alongside his older brother Josh and immersed himself in two new bands – Half Noise and the now defunct Novel American.

In June 2016, Paramore posted an Instagram video of themselves in the studio with Zac on drums prompting fans to speculate that he’s a permanent member of Paramore once again.

Adding fuel to the rumours, the band then posted a pic of Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen eating food in a restaurant with Zac.

However, one month later Zac said in an interview that although he is joining forces with Hayley Williams and Taylor York once again, he’s only playing drums on their new album as a session musician.

Speaking to Idobi, Zac said at the time: "They’ve asked me to play drums on their album, on their new album. So (Hayley) put it on their Instagram and put it on their website, and it’s no joke that I’m back just playing drums for them on their album alongside with doing my HalfNoise stuff.

“That’s it, and that’s literally all it is right now. No one’s really asked cause I’ve kind of deterred the question, but I’m doing HalfNoise – that’s my band. They’ve asked me to drum, and it was like, ‘Yeah, of course!’

“We’ve always been friends, and yeah, there was a little bit of weirdness cause I left the band for a few years, but all that stuff is not even there anymore and there’s no hard feelings and it’s just been rad and fun."

Last month, Hayley Williams told Paramore’s Instagram followers that the band are struggling to hit their stride with their new record.

Hayley said: “about a year ago, we began writing & demoing songs for #5. following up our self-titled album didn't seem like it was going to be an easy task and, unsurprisingly, it was not. the problem about comparing yourself to... yourself... is that even though it's better than looking elsewhere, you're still looking in the wrong direction.

“for me, it wasn't until i trusted that the past is finished with me that i could go looking for what's next. our pasts can be a great comforter, or a horror movie; a noose, or a shield... but it is "past" for a reason.

“after a rest, we have to go looking for what's supposed to come after that. – h”

We’ll wait with baited breath for the new material!
