Ozzy Osbourne has been bestowed with the ultimate honour of having a tram named after him.

The Prince of Darkness returned to his native Birmingham this morning to launch the Midland Metro tram called Ozzy Osbourne that will traverse a brand new route in the city centre.

Belying Ozzy’s penchant for darkness, Ozzy Osbourne the tram is actually a rather fetching pink hue in keeping with the Midland Metro’s colour scheme.

Speaking to reporters gathered on Corporation Street, Aston born-and-raised Ozzy said: "It's a great honour to have a new tram named after me, I'm proud to be a Brummie and this means so much."

Ozzy posed for photos and signed autographs for the crowds and shortly afterwards took the inaugural ride on the tram.

The Midland Metro tram route to New Street station is set to open on Bank Holiday Monday.
