My Chemical Romance have premiered their first new song in eight years, the sprawling rock epic ‘The Foundations of Decay.’
Unleashed to the world on the eve of My Chemical Romance’s string of UK shows this month, ‘The Foundations of Decay’ opens with static noises plaintive acoustic guitars before Gerard Way’s trademark vocals enter the fray.
“See the man who stands upon the hill,” Way sings. “He dreams of all the battles won. But fate had left scars upon his face, with all the damage they have done.”
One-and-half minutes in, the track soon explodes with a barrage of angsty emo vocals and crunching guitars before we’re taken back into calmer sonic realms as MCR fully embrace the quiet/loud prog rock dynamic.
A My Chemical Romance fan summed it up perfectly on YouTube: “The composition of this exudes the same fury and angst of their past work but with a newly found raw maturity.”

Shortly after the song's unveiling, Mikey Way wrote on Instagram: "This is my favorite My Chemical Romance song of all time. I hope you listen and enjoy."
Alongside unveiling the new music, My Chemical Romance have recently confirmed the stage times for their trio of Stadium MK shows in Milton Keynes.
