My Chemical Romance announce their first UK show in nine years
This will be very special!
Last updated 12th Aug 2021
After weeks of teasing with cryptic posts, My Chemical Romance have officially confirmed they’re playing Stadium MK in Milton Keynes this summer.
The recently reunited Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way and Frank Iero will perform at the 30,500 capacity Stadium MK venue on Saturday 20th June 2020. It’s their first UK show since they headlined Reading and Leeds Festival nine long years ago in August 2011.
My Chemical Romance announced the show via an eerie two-and-a-half-minute video posted last night (19th January) entitled ‘An Offering.’
The clip follows a mysterious hooded skeletal figure who traverses a forest at nighttime before throwing a dagger at a pentagram on the ground. As always, My Chemical Romance fans are searching for deeper symbolic meanings to the clip.
At the end of the video, My Chemical Romance reveal the venue and date of their UK show – Stadium MK in Milton Keynes on Saturday 20th June 2020.

Are MCR playing Download Festival?
Although they've been confirmed for Download Festival Australia, which takes place across both Melbourne and Sydney, and Download Festival Japan in Tokyo, (with a splinter gig in Osaka) MCR have not been confirmed as playing Download Festival in the UK.
When they first started hinting at UK activity on 3rd January with a tweeted hooded skeletal figure alongside an emoji of the Union Jack, fans understandably began to speculate that they'd be announced for Donington.
On 9th January, My Chemical Romance continued to tease their legions of fans when they posted a 12-second video to their social channels alongside a skull emoji.
The video featured a series of mysterious icons - including the Union Jack - and symbols that eagle-eyed fans quickly deciphered as being from the Theban Alphabet – a writing system first published in Johannes Trithemius's ‘Polygraphia’ book in 1518 and used by early modern occultists.
Fans soon deciphered that the icons spell out the word ‘June’ and point towards live activity this summer – however, it was unclear what date in June it was.
With headliners System of A Down, Iron Maiden and Kiss already confirmed, it was always unlikely that MCR would be announced for Download Festival 2020, as they'd certainly have to play at headline level.
We now know My Chemical Romance will play Stadium MK in Milton Keynes on Saturday 20th June 2020.

My Chemical Romance officially reunited after six-and-a-half long years away on 31st October when they announced a reunion show at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles for Friday 20th December.
Unsurprisingly, the triumphant Los Angeles gig sold out in nanoseconds and the following week, My Chemical Romance announced additional shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
