Muse fans launch petition for 'by request' club tour & Matt Bellamy seems keen

It has already attracted thousands of signatures

Muse’s fervent followers have launched an online petition for the band to play a tour of intimate venues with the setlist decided by the fans themselves.

The idea was sparked in the wake of Muse’s performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland last Saturday night where the trio played a string of older songs that haven’t been performed in a while.

In direct response, fans took to Twitter to ask vocalist/guitarist Matt Bellamy to play more rarities on tour.

Answering their pleas, Matt suggested that a “club setting” similar to 2015’s ultra-intimate Psycho UK Tour would work best and it could be a “by request type thing.”

Since then, the ever ardent fans have launched a petition calling on Muse to undertake a by request club tour. At the time of writing it has 2,385 signatures.

Karen Grey, who launched the petition, wrote: “(Matt's idea of a by request tour) has received a lot of positive feedback from the fan community and is something everyone would love to be a part of.

“Suggestions have been made to allow those only in attendance have the ability to select from a list of songs they would like to be played, or have access to a poll created by the band before the gig.

“Something like this wouldn't be a easy task for the band to administer but it is certainly achievable (and being a web developer I am happy to put my hand up to help with this!)

“In 2015 Muse did a similar tour in the UK where they performed rarities and this had a great response from the fans. The locations were intimate and gave a great boost for club venues across the UK.”
