Miley Cyrus is recording a Metallica covers album
Interesting
Pop singer Miley Cyrus has confirmed she’s working on an album of Metallica covers.
The 27-year-old singer previously covered Metallica’s timeless rock ballad ‘Nothing Else Matters’ during her Pyramid Stage set at Glastonbury 2019 and now she’s working on a full record.
Speaking about her recent activities with Interview Magazine, Cyrus said: "We've been working on a Metallica cover album and I'm here working on that. We're so lucky to be able to continue to work on our art during all of this. At first, it felt uninspiring and now I've been totally ignited."
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is an outspoken fan of Miley Cyrus.
After witnessing her performance of Temple of the Dog’s ‘Say Hello 2 Heaven’ at the star-studded I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell concert at The Forum in Los Angeles in January 2019, Ulrich took to Instagram to praise Cyrus.
"Still stunned by your next level version of 'Say Hello 2 Heaven' for Chris! Beyond inspiring,” Ulrich enthused.
Other rock classics Miley Cyrus has previously covered include Led Zeppelin’s ‘Black Dog’ and Pink Floyd’s ‘Comfortably Numb.’
Metallica collaborated with Lady Gaga in February 2017, however the performance was blighted by technical issues.
On Saturday night (17th October), Miley Cyrus performed covers of The Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’ and The Cure’s ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ at legendary rock bar Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood.
The performance was for Save Our Stages Fest; a three-day virtual charity event featuring a series of concerts raising money for independent music venues in America at risk of closing their doors permanently.
Foo Fighters also performed a six-song set at The Troubadour in Los Angeles for Save Our Stages Fest and you can read more about that here.
