Mikey Way: My Relationship Isn’t Connected To MCR Split
He speaks out on Twitter
Mikey Way has denied that My Chemical Romance’s split is in any way connected to his personal life.
The bassist’s marriage to Alicia Simmons reportedly hit the rocks back in January amid allegations he was seeing another woman.
His personal life issues prompted some fans to speculate that it could have been a contributing factor in the split – Gerard Way and his wife Lyn-Z are close friends of Alicia’s.
On Twitter last night, Mikey wrote: “I want to thank everybody who helped make the past 12 years an unforgettable journey for me. Family, friends and fans- Thank You.
“For the record, my relationship has absolutely nothing to do with what just happened. They are completely separate.”
Formed in New Jersey in 2001, My Chemical Romance released four acclaimed albums in their 12 year career selling around 8million albums and singles in the process.
In their parting statement on Saturday, the band wrote: "Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would.
“We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends.
“And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure."
