Metallica 'To Play Antarctica This December'
Will 'Trapped Under Ice' make the set list?
Metallica are set to perform a live gig in Antarctica this December, according to a leaked poster.
!An image on the Columbian Coca-Cola Zero website has reportedly been published (and since removed) showcasing the fizzy drink sponsored event on the barren continent.
The heavy metal heavyweights will allegedly play between the dates of December 2nd and 15th – summer time on the Southernmost continent when temperatures can reach balmy peaks of −3°C.
If true, the competition winners only gig will support comments Lars Ulrich made with San Francisco radio station 107.7 The Bone.
The drummer said: "There's a very interesting thing coming our way in December Nobody knows that. There's another frontier heading in METALLICA's direction in December.
“Which, if anybody (working for Metallica’s management) even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we're very excited about."
Back in March 2008 Fall Out Boy were due to play Antarctica but were forced to cancel due to bad weather.
The gig was due to be part of a Guiness Book of Records world record attempt to play all seven continents in less than nine months.
A severely cheesed off Pete Wentz told MTV at the time: "It's an utter f***ing disappointment. It's so insane.
“We had this idea, and then to not be able to fulfil it is just disappointing, especially when you put it out there. But what are you gonna do, wait until winter's over?"
