Metallica and Miley Cyrus have joined forces for a live performance of the legendary metal band’s 1991 rock ballad ‘Nothing Else Matters.’

Marking the 30th anniversary reissue of their blockbuster fifth studio album ‘Metallica' (aka ‘The Black Album’) and the charity covers album ‘The Metallica Blacklist’, the San Francisco metal legends appeared on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM on Thursday to perform with Miley Cyrus.

Backed by Metallica’s James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich, the live 'Nothing Else Matters' performance at the SiriusXM Garage in Los Angeles sees Miley Cyrus take on lead vocal duties with Papa Het joining in for the harmonies.

Miley Cyrus first covered ‘Nothing Else Matters’ at Glastonbury 2019, before recording a version for ‘The Metallica Blacklist’ alongside Ozzy Osbourne producer Andrew Watt, Elton John, Robert Trujillo, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith and Yo-Yo Ma.

Other artists that cover Metallica tracks on ‘The Metallica Blacklist’ include Ghost, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Royal Blood, Biffy Clyro and Cage The Elephant.

100% of sales proceeds from ‘The Metallica Blacklist’ go directly to charity – 50% to Metallica’s own All Within My Hands Foundation and 50% to a charity of each artist’s choice.

Back in February 2017, Lady Gaga shared the stage with Metallica at the Grammy Awards at The Staples Centre in Los Angeles for a version of the band’s ‘Hardwired… To Self Destruct’ track ‘Moth Into Flame’.

Sadly, however, the performance was blighted with technical issues as James Hetfield’s microphone wasn’t working for the first half of the set.

Over the weekend, a video clip of 65,000 American football fans bouncing in unison to Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ went viral online.

Earlier on Friday (10th September), enigmatic Swedish metallers Ghost shared their cover of 'Enter Sandman' from 'The Metallica Blacklist', while Slipknot's Corey Taylor unleashed a blistering cover of 'Holier Than Thou.'
