#MetallicaMondays: Metallica are streaming classic concerts directly to your sofa
Hell yes!
Metallica have launched #MetallicaMondays, which sees them livestream classic concerts in their glorious entirety each week for fans staying at home during the coronavirus crisis.
The metal titans kicked things off at midnight UK time last night by streaming their whole show at Slane Castle in County Meath, Ireland on 8th June 2019 on YouTube and Facebook.
Metallica's gig at Slane Castle last summer was their first Irish concert in almost a decade and, four songs in, they treated the 75,000 strong crowd to their pulsating version of ‘Whiskey in the Jar’, dedicated to James Hetfield's musical hero Phil Lynott.
At the end of ‘Whiskey in the Jar’, Papa Het said: "We love you, Philip. Thank you!"
Launching the #MetallicaMondays concert series, Metallica wrote: “Need to take a break from Netflix before you binge-watch the entire library? Introducing our brand-new concert series: #MetallicaMondays, debuting tonight on our YouTube channel and on Facebook for free!”
#MetallicaMondays will continue at 1am UK time on Tuesday 31st March with an as-yet-to-be-confirmed second concert.

Yesterday, Metallica also announced that they’re rescheduling their April South American tour for December and the North American festivals they were due to perform at - Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona, and Sonic Temple in Columbus -have all been cancelled.
On a more positive note, Louder Than Life in Louisville (17th to 20th September) has added an extra date and Metallica will headline the Thursday night.
Metallica ended their message by writing: "We’ll sign off for now by sending you our love during these trying times.
"Here’s to looking back on this period soon with a renewed appreciation for all the amazing times together with our extended Metallica Family around the world.
"For now, go hang with your significant others, kids, pets, parents… whomever you have in your space. Create your playlists, watch some movies, try some old-fashioned board games, and most importantly, stay safe. We’ll keep in touch!"
