The Mars Volta Split Up
Vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala breaks the news on Twitter
Cedric Bixler-Zavala has revealed that he’s no longer a member of The Mars Volta, spelling the end for hyper experimental prog-rockers.
Back in September The Mars Volta announced their hiatus, however, four months on Cedric says he’s departed for good.
Seemingly blaming Omar Rodríguez-López's new project Bosnian Rainbows, Cedric tweeted: "I can't sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta.
"Thank u 2 all VOLTA fans u deserved more especially after the way u rooted for us on this album. I tried my hardest to keep it going. But Bosnian Rainbows was what we all got instead."
His series of tweets continued: "For the record I tried my hardest to get a full scale North American tour going for Noctourniquet but Omar did not want to.
"What am I suppose to do be some progressive house wife that's cool with watching their partner go f**k other bands? We owe it 2 fans to tour.
"Thank u a million times over for ever giving a f**k about our band."
The Mars Volta released six albums in their 12-year career, including 2012’s critically acclaimed ‘Noctourniquet’.
Cedric and Omar reformed their seminal band At The Drive-In last year for a series of shows, including Coachella and Lollapalooza. Their future currently looks highly uncertain.
