Marilyn Manson performs stripped back version of ‘Sweet Dreams’ with X Japan at Coachella
This is powerful
Marilyn Manson guest performed with Japanese heavy metallers X Japan at Coachella in California over the weekend.
Manson – real name Brian Hugh Warner – arrived on the Mojave Tent stage on Saturday night (21st April) to a rapturous response from the audience following an enthusiastic introduction from X Japan drummer, pianist and songwriter Yoshiki.
With Yoshiki tinkling the ivories, Manson then performed a stripped-back and haunting version of his cover of Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’.
Ahead of the performance, Yoshiki said of Manson: "He's been an amazing friend of mine. So we talked about him showing up at Coachella and he said, 'I'd be happy to.' He's just a very sweet person and he kindly tries to support X Japan - or support me. That's wonderful."
X Japan’s appearance on the first weekend of Coachella on 14th April saw them join forces with Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland on a version of their track ‘I.V.’ and Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus on ‘Born to Be Free’.
