Marilyn Manson Sues Woman Over 'Pro-Nazi' Claims

She also claimed she was engaged to Manson

Marilyn Manson has launched legal action against a woman who claimed she was engaged to him and later allegedly labeled him “pro-Nazi”.

The shock-rock icon – real name Brian Hugh Warner – is seeking $50,000 in damages from Yolanda Tharpe, who goes by the stage name Seraphim Ward, after she apparently posted false claims about him on her website.

In the cease and desist letter filed at Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (29th January), Manson’s demands for compensation are in relation to defamation, misappropriation of common law right of publicity, unlawful use of Manson's name for commercial advantage, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

It’s claimed that Tharpe harassed Manson for months and publicly announced her engagement to him in 2012; despite the fact the singer says he has never met her.

Once Manson threatened her with a lawsuit she published a retraction that accused him of having “pro-Nazi” views and that he "not want to be seen with African-American women like her".

Tharpe has also counter-claimed that Manson is stalking her and alleges that he’s responsible for the death of two of her pet cats.

Marilyn Manson’s last studio album ‘Born Villain’ was released in May 2012.
