Marilyn Manson has paid poignant homage to his dad Hugh, who died on Friday (7th July).

Taking to Instagram to break the news of his father’s death, Marilyn – real name Brian Warner – shared a childhood photo of himself with Hugh.

“Today I lost my father, Hugh Warner,” Marilyn wrote. He taught me how to be a man, a fighter and a survivor. He taught me how to shoot a gun. How to drive. How to lead.

“He will always be the best dad in the world. Somehow and somewhere, I know he is with my mom now. I will keep my promise and never let you down. I miss and love you dad.”

Marilyn’s mum Barbara Warner died three years ago on 13th May 2014 after a long battle with dementia.

Last month, Marilyn shared a pic of himself and Hugh in full shock-rock makeup to celebrate Father’s Day. The photo was from a 2015 photoshoot with Paper Magazine.

Marilyn recently finished recording his tenth studio album ‘Heaven Upside Down’, which is tentatively set for release on Valentine’s Day 2018.

Speaking to Fabulous TV, Marilyn said of the record: “It’s pretty violent in its nature for some reason. It’s not emotional in the same way. It’s got a chip on its shoulder.

“I can’t wait for people to hear it – I think they’re going to be quite surprised."
