Marilyn Manson was injured during his show at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom last night when an onstage prop fell on him.

The shock rock legend was performing his cover of Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)' when he tried to climb onto a prop at the back of the stage - two large guns held together with metal scaffolding.

The prop became unstable and fell, crushing Marilyn on stage. His band mates and crew immediately rushed to him to lift the metal construction off.

Unable to move afterwards, Marilyn laid on stage for several minutes before being carried out on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

The audience were told that the rest of the show was cancelled "due to injury."

In a statement, Marilyn’s representatives said: "Manson suffered an injury towards the end of his incredible NYC show. He is being treated at a local hospital."

It is not yet known how serious Marilyn's injuries are.

Eyewitness Anthony Biscardi told the BBC: “He was performing the song Sweet Dreams. Towards the middle of the song it seemed as though he tried climbing onto a prop.

"The first touch of weight on those poles and it came crashing down onto him. He was pretty limp, almost as though he was unconscious.”

Manson was three dates into the North American leg of his The Heaven Upside Down Tour, which is due to hit the UK in December.
