Malcolm Young's Family Confirm He’s Suffering From Dementia
They release a brief statement
The family of legendary AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young have confirmed he’s suffering from dementia.
Last Wednesday the Aussie rockers announced that Malcolm had retired from the band and is not involved in their upcoming album ‘Rock or Bust’.
Although the band did not reveal the nature of Malcolm’s illness, the Sydney Morning Herald ran a report claiming he has “a complete loss of short-term memory.”
Confirming the speculation, the 61-year-old’s family released a brief statement to People yesterday saying: "Malcolm is suffering from dementia and the family thanks you for respecting their privacy."
Malcolm and Angus’ nephew Stevie Young will take up rhythm guitar duties on the album and upcoming world tour.
Released on 1st December, ‘Rock or Bust’ will be the first album in their 41-year career to not feature Malcolm. His brother Angus is now the only original member of AC/DC since their inception in Sydney, Australia back in 1973.
Together with his AC/DC band mates, Malcolm sold 200million records worldwide including 71million in America alone.
