It’s probably the understatement of the decade to say that Corey Taylor is pretty stoked with Stone Sour’s upcoming album ‘Hydrograd’.

Speaking to Kerrang! Radio’s Loz Guest from Los Angeles this afternoon, Corey said that not only is ‘Hydrograd’ possibly “the best work that I’ve ever done” but it has the power to change “the way that people approach music.”

Reflecting on recording the album at Sphere Studios in Los Angeles, an ecstatic Corey told Loz: “I’m telling you man, it was one of the best experiences of my life.

“I am on fire for people to hear this album, it’s certainly the best work that Stone Sour’s done; it may be the best work that I’ve ever done. It is just from the beginning to the end, like, an amazing rock album.

“Like, if I wasn’t in the band I would listen to this album, that’s how good it is. It’s one of those albums that I think is gonna really change a lot of things about not only the way people look at this band but the way that people approach music. Man, we went back and did everything old school and it sounds incredible y’know.”

Continuing to heap praise on the music, Corey continued: “This is all of the promise and all the hints of what we could do on the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ albums – that all comes to fruition on ‘Hydrograd’.

“The songs are killer, the performances are fantastic, sonically it’s going to be our best sounding album. Now it’s like we’ve got to wait for a certain period of time to be able to release something y’know, so we’re in that month of frustration!”

You can listen to Loz’s full interview with Corey below where he also talks about his plans for unleashing two songs from the record very soon, his thoughts on Loz’s incredible new idea for a rock star cereal product, his ambitions to appear on BBC comedy panel show QI again and more.

Currently in the final mixing stages, ‘Hydrograd’ is set for release across the globe this June.
