Alice In Chains guitarist/co-vocalist/chief songwriter Jerry Cantrell has shared a song he’s recorded for the soundtrack to the Keanu Reeves movie John Wick: Chapter 2.

Titled ‘A Job To Do’, the heavy, slow-building track was co-penned by Cantrell alongside music producer and composer Tyler Bates and, unsurprisingly, it’s imbued with the Alice In Chains blueprint.

“I moved houses a few years ago and ended up meeting my new neighbor, Tyler,” Cantrell tells Billboard. “He did the first (2014’s John Wick) movie and a song with Marilyn Manson (‘Killing Strangers’) that I thought really fit the film. He mentioned there was going to be a sequel and maybe we could work it out.”

The song features on the end titles of the film and Cantrell says it was penned from the perspective of Keanu Reeves’ titular character who is a hitman that has come out of retirement to fight an assassins group.

On writing for the movie, Cantrell said: “It almost felt like an assignment that I gave to myself. It’s not unlike how I normally write from a personal point of view, whether mine or someone else’s.”

Receiving rave reviews from critics, John Wick: Chapter 2 hits cinemas Stateside today and next Friday (17th February) in the UK.
