Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has told fans there are “some announcements” on the way this coming week.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday morning (16th September), Mike posted a selfie along with a cryptic caption hinting at some big news.

“Good morning. I’m on a bit of a social media diet. Watching not talking  Stay tuned for some announcements this week”, Mike told his one million followers.

It's widely expected that the announcements are for the special public event that was hinted at in a statement made by the band made last month on Twitter.

"We are working on a special public event in Los Angeles to honour Chester's memory, and look forward to sharing details with you soon". At the same time, the band thanked fans for their support whilst they heal and look to building a future for Linkin Park.

Since hearing the awful news about Chester's death by suicide on July 20th earlier this year, the music world paid tribute to the man himself and fans continue to express their grief and sadness.

Chester's wife, Talinda Bennington, has been very open about what their family life is like in his absence. Using Twitter, she has shared some very intimate images and videos of Chester in the days and hours prior to his death.

Talinda has been using her unfortunate experience to highlight just how hard it is to 'see' depression through the smiles and happy faces. In reference to the above video, she wrote on Twitter, "... depression doesn't have a face or a mood".

With hashtags like "'#f---depression" and "#MakeChesterProud", Talinda has been building an online community to help support people who are suffering with depression.
