Kerrang! Radio's Revolution Rock
With The Joe Strummer Foundation
Last updated 4th Jan 2019
Here at Kerrang! Radio, we want to raise awareness of the power of music for positive change.
In the UK and all over the world, there are music charities changing people’s lives on a daily basis.
Be it helping to provide musical instruments for financially challenged schools, music mentoring for the homeless or underprivileged, helping youths find a way out of gang crime, or music therapy for mental health issues – the power of music and the amazing work these projects do should not be underestimated.
So, this August Kerrang! Radio has teamed up with The Joe Strummer Foundation, a fantastic charity that works with non-profit music initiatives here in the UK and abroad, as we seek to highlight the life changing work that they do.
Over the next two weeks we'll be speaking to the folks behind The Joe Strummer Foundation, as well as the people who have benefitted from their work. We'll also be talking to the likes of Corey Taylor, Jonathan Davis, Andrew W.K. and Frank Turner about how music has affected their life and helped them overcome obstacles.
Hey, look, here's Tom Morello with a message for you!

StrummerJam
StrummerJam is an international fundraising event presented by The Joe Strummer Foundation.
Throughout the month of August 2018, StrummerJam events are held around the world to celebrate the life, music and memory of Joe Strummer and to help raise funds for music non-profits.
All StrummerJam fundraising events are independently organised by musicians, promoters, venues, record labels, DJs, artists and Joe Strummer fans.
StrummerJam is a month-long DIY global fundraising campaign that unites people so that together we can help change the world through music, as Joe said: "without people, you're nothing."

Instrument Amnesty
Revolution Rock is also a literal instrument for change; we’ve launched an instrument amnesty, in a bid to help bring music to those who have no access to it.
So, if you’ve got an old instrument that you don’t use… or a working amp taking up space, why not pass it on to someone who could give it a new lease of life, and perhaps at the same time change their own life for the better?
Drop us a line on the form below, and we'll be in touch with further information, to help pass your instrument onto one of The Joe Strummer Foundation's many deserving projects
