The Kerrang! Awards took place at the Islington Assembly Hall in London last night (Wednesday 19th June) with Metallica, Bring Me The Horizon, Ghost and Architects among the big winners.
Fresh from triumphing at Manchester Etihad Stadium the previous evening, Metallica attended the bash where Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo picked up two prestigious gongs – Best International Act and Best International Live Act.
Thin Lizzy and Black Star Riders’ Scott Gorham was on hand to present Metallica with their International Live Act award, while Queen’s Roger Taylor gave them their Best International Act honour.
Architects brushed aside stiff competition from Enter Shikari, Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes, Don Broco and Employed to Serve to win the Best British Live Act for the second year on the bounce.
Bring Me The Horizon were victorious in the Best British Act category, seeing off the likes of Biffy Clyro and the mighty Iron Maiden.
Ghost won one of the biggest honours of the night – Best Album for ‘Prequelle’ – and an unmasked Tobias Forge received their gong from Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter Kelly.
Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page personally attended the ceremony to pick up his Kerrang! Icon Award, while Phil Campbell received Motörhead's Kerrang! Inspiration Award.
There was also a poignant moment during the evening when everyone in attendance gave late Prodigy singer Keith Flint a standing ovation.
