Josh Homme: "Arctic Monkeys' AM Is A Sexy Record"

The QOTSA lynchpin has high praise for his good chums’ album

Josh Homme has heaped huge praise on Arctic Monkeys’ upcoming fifth album ‘AM’ calling it “sexy” and “cool”.

Close friends with the Arctics, Josh co-produced the Sheffield band’s 2009 album ‘Humbug’ and guests on ‘AM’ after Alex Turner sang on ‘...Like Clockwork’ earlier in 2013.

“I sang on the new Arctic Monkeys record,” Homme said. “It’s a really cool, sexy after-midnight record. It’s called 'AM', so I guess that’s really obvious.

“And it’s really good. It’s really good. It’s not disco, but it’s like a modern, dancefloor sexy record. It’s really good."

According to the NME, Homme also hinted that Queens of the Stone Age’s seventh album might come a lot sooner than people think.

"One of the coolest things about doing this is to surprise people,” he continued. “It's to come out of nowhere. The music world is almost like just a huge dark backdrop, and you wait for something shiny to come out that you wanna hold onto. And it’s gone so quickly."

"You make a record and the initial excitement is there, and ideally you make a record that lasts and lasts and lasts, but you have no way of knowing if that's gonna happen.

“And I think because we took six years we should jump in again. I don't know what that is, but I never tell you exactly when that is because it’s part of what’s cool about this whole thing.

“This is a business of surprising and exciting people and making them forget what’s normal, and I would never ruin that by saying exactly when that moment is. But we will, and hopefully it’ll be a much happier... record."

Arctic Monkeys’ ‘AM’ is released through Domino Records on Monday 9th September.
