Jay-Z has sampled Nirvana’s seminal classic ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ on his new album ‘Magna Carta... Holy Grail.’

The opening track ‘Holy Grail’ sees Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, rap the line: “I know nobody to blame / Kurt Cobain, I did it to myself” before he sings to the tune of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’:

“And we are just entertainers / I feel stupid and contagious”

‘Holy Grail’ has been uploaded onto Soundcloud, which you can check out and share your thoughts on below.

Released via an exclusive Samsung app this morning, ‘Magna Carta… Holy Grail’ also samples R.E.M.’s 1991 anthem ‘Losing My Religion’ on the album track ‘Heaven’.

Of course, this album is not Jay-Z’s first flirtation with rock music. In 2004 he joined forces with Linkin Park on their remix EP ‘Collison Course’.

The six track collection, which fused the two acts’ tracks together, stormed straight to number one on the US Billboard Chart and has sold over 5million copies worldwide.
