Bruce Dickinson was heavily involved in the crafting of the ale

Iron Maiden have become the latest big name rock act to launch their own brand of beer.

!Named after their defining 1983 anthem, ‘Trooper’ is a collaboration between Maiden frontman and real ale connoisseur Bruce Dickinson and Cheshire family brewers Robinsons.

In his hands on role, Dickinson made several visits to Robinsons headquarters in Stockport to help develop the unique taste of the beer.

He commented: "I'm a lifelong fan of traditional English ale; I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when we were asked to create our own beer.

“I have to say that I was very nervous: Robinsons are the only people I have had to audition for in 30 years. Their magic has been to create the alchemical wedding of flavour and texture that is Trooper. I love it."

Available on cask and as a bottled ale, ‘Trooper’ comes complete with the iconic single artwork which depicts a triumphant Eddie the Head as a British soldier in the battlefield.

Robinsons managing director Oliver Robinson said: "Trooper is a premium British ale with true depth of character and flavour.

“For more than thirty years, the unmistakable icon of Eddie, the band’s instantly-recognisable mascot, has adorned every album cover, T-shirt and poster - so it is fitting that Eddie will now adorn the cask pump clip and take centre stage on the bottle label of Trooper.”

Maiden fans can buy ‘Trooper’ from select UK pubs and from ironmaidenbeer.com from this May.
