Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson says he regrets not punching Axl Rose over a quarter of a century ago.

The catalyst for the Bruce’s ire came way back in May 1988 when Guns N’ Roses supported Iron Maiden at the Coliseum in Quebec City, Canada.

Not exactly famous for treating fans splendidly, Axl allegedly aimed some caustic words at the French-Canadian members of the crowd – something that riled Bruce immensely.

“I should have come onstage and given him a punch,” Dickinson told the Journal De Montreal. “How could he dare speak to my audience in that way? I always regretted not having done so.”

Elsewhere in the candid interview, Bruce also spoke of his delight at being given the all clear after treatment for his throat and tongue cancer.

“A huge relief, I was unable to speak. I did not know what to do. Should I scream my joy?,” Bruce said.

“It was the biggest news I had ever received in my life. Right now, I’m at the stage of healing, so I have not sung except sometimes at home. Fortunately, the power is still there. Notes too. We will rehearse intensively in January.”
