Iron Maiden announce Legacy of the Beast UK Tour
They're playing six shows next summer
Just four months after wrapping up The Book of Souls World Tour, Iron Maiden have announced an ambitious new global tour.
Taking in arenas and festivals throughout the summer, the European leg of the Legacy Of The Beast World Tour kicks off in Talinn, Estonia on 26th May 2018 and comes to the UK later in the summer taking in the following shows:
JULY 2018
Newcastle Metro Radio Arena – Tue 31st
AUGUST 2018
Belfast The SSE Arena – Thu 2nd
Aberdeen BHGE Arena – Sat 4th
Manchester Arena – Mon 6th
Birmingham Genting Arena – Tue 7th
London The O2 – Fri 10th
Tickets go on sale from Kerrang! Radio Tickets at 9am on Friday 24th November.
Set to continue into 2019, The Legacy Of The Beast World Tour was inspired by Iron Maiden’s comic book and mobile phone game of the same name. In keeping with this, the stage set design will feature a number of different but interlocking ‘worlds’.
The set list will be dominated by classic Iron Maiden material from the 1980s with ‘a handful of surprises from later albums’ added into the mix.
Iron Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood explains: “As our fans know, we’ve been following a particular touring cycle ever since Bruce and Adrian re-joined Maiden at the start of the millennium, alternating new album tours with “History/Hits” tours.
“We enjoy working this way for many reasons, not least because it gives the band a chance to play both new material and the older favourites which we know fans like to hear. It keeps things fresh, not just for the fans but for the band too.
“For this History/Hits tour we decided to base the theme around the Legacy Of The Beast name, which suits our purposes perfectly by giving us scope to get creative and have some fun, especially with Eddie!
“I don’t want to give too much away at the moment but we’re working on a number of different stage sets, all in keeping with the Maiden tradition and we hope to give our fans a fantastic experience when they come to see this very special show.”
Massachusetts metallers Killswitch Engage will support Iron Maiden at all six UK shows and select dates in mainland Europe.
Iron Maiden started teasing today’s announcement over the weekend by posting an intriguing 20-second video online.
With the opening of ‘For the Greater Good of God’ from 2006’s ‘A Matter of Life and Death’ playing in the background, the video depicts five stained glass windows in a church.
The central pane features a devilish incarnation of Eddie The Head with the iconic artwork from albums ‘Piece of Mind’, ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’ and ‘Somewhere in Time’ plus ‘The Trooper’ single cover making up the other four windows.
