Green Day confirm they'll perform 'American Idiot' and 'Dookie' in full on 2024 tour

Green Day have confirmed they will perform both ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Dookie’ from start to finish on their summer 2024 stadium tour.
When The Saviors Tour was first announced late last year, it was billed as celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘American Idiot’ and the 30th anniversary of ‘Dookie’ together with the Green Day’s 14th studio album ‘Saviors.’
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, bassist Mike Dirnt has revealed for the first time that Green Day will play both ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Dookie’ in their entirety alongside other new and old tracks from their discography.
“What a f---in’ moment it’s going to be,” Dirnt enthused. “We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
Dirnt told Rolling Stone that he expects it will take Green Day around 90 minutes to perform both albums and “we’ll then have about 35 to 45 minutes to throw down on other stuff.”
He added: “Production-wise, doing these albums lends itself to some amazing possibilities.”
Asked whether they will start with ‘Dookie’ or ‘American Idiot’, Dirnt replied: “We still need to put our heads down and do real work to figure that out. Before every tour, we do a lot of pre-production, a lot of thinking about how it should look and feel and sound, because it really matters to us. That’s the fun, but it also really keeps us on our toes.”
The five-date UK & Ireland leg of The Saviors Tour visits stadiums in Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin and London in June 2024 alongside a headline appearance at Isle of Wight Festival.
Featuring the Kerrang! Radio playlisted anthem ‘The American Dream is Killing Me’, Green Day’s 14th studio album ‘Saviors’ is released this Friday (19th January).
