Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins Speaks 'Great' Eighth Album

He's full of enthusiasm about the release

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has opened up about the band’s eighth studio album.

The rock icons started work on the follow-up to 2011’s chart-topping ‘Wasting Light’ back in February and Hawkins admits they’re brim-full of ideas.

"We're getting our ideas together,” he told Billboard. “Dave (Grohl) has his brain working overtime, like usual, and he's got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually- none that I can speak of at this moment, but it's gonna be great. It's gonna be cool."

Asked whether the group ever feel under pressure to surpass their previous efforts, Hawkins admitted the band do feel the strain.

“You always want every (album) to be the best one you've ever done, and you always think you haven't done your best one," he continued.

"Although some people may feel we have, I still think we haven't written our 'Hotel California' or our 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or whatever.

“You should always be a little scared... Every time you start a record, you have to be, like, ready to f*ckin' kill yourself or it's not gonna be any good."

Dave Grohl’s documentary debut ‘Sound City’ about the titular world-famous recording studios was released back in March.

The accompanying soundtrack featured contributions from Josh Homme, Paul McCartney, Pat Smear, Krist Novoselic, Trent Reznor, Stevie Nicks, Corey Taylor, Rick Nielsen and many more.
