Foo Fighters slam 'utterly ridiculous' acrimonious breakup rumours
A news story had claimed there was a rift in the group
Foo Fighters have slammed a media report claiming they’re going their separate ways as “utterly ridiculous.”
On Monday, the New York Post’s Page Six quoted a ‘source’ who apparently told them there is tension between Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins.
“The band is billing it as a ‘break,’ but it’s totally Dave going solo, and Taylor is pissed about it,” the source supposedly said.
After news outlets across the globe picked up on the story, a band representative has now told Entertainment Weekly that any breakup rumours are “utterly ridiculous.”
Speaking to EW just last summer, Dave Grohl said: “The band is more than a musical group. It’s a family and it’s become a way of life with us. We love each other.
“When the Foo Fighters show up to the airport and there’s four SUVs waiting to drive us away, we all get in one SUV, still, to this day. It’s how we roll. We’re not breaking up anytime soon, that would be like your grandparents getting a divorce. Too weird.”
In other Dave Grohl news, the rock legend performed a poignant version of The Beatles’ classic ‘Blackbird’ at The Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The performance was the backdrop of the In Memoriam section of the ceremony, which remembers the film stars who died in the past year.
