A man has painstakingly created an impressive portrait of Foo Fighters vocalist Dave Grohl using 725 Rubik’s Cubes.

Australia-based, Italy-born Giovanni Contardi said he was inspired to make the Dave Grohl piece after witnessing Foo Fighters’ show at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne back in January.

Sharing a photo of the impressive portrait of Dave, Contardi wrote: “Seeing the Foo Fighters concert a few months ago here in Melbourne has been one of the most inspiring moments.”

Contardi, who is a former world record holding speedcuber – solving Rubik’s Cubes as fast as humanly possible – also shared a video of how he created the Dave Grohl portrait.

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl isn’t the first portrait Contardi has created using Rubik’s Cubes – previous pieces include Breaking Bad’s Walter White, Marilyn Monroe, Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams and Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes.

Foo Fighters grace the UK next week for a trio sold out shows in Manchester and London.

Download Festival promoter Andy Copping has also listed Foo Fighters as among the bands who could headline the rock extravaganza in the coming years.
