Foo Fighters premiere new song 'Rescued' from emotionally raw 11th album 'But Here We Are'
It's a musical response to Taylor Hawkins' death
After teasing fans with musical snippets over the past week, Foo Fighters have premiered their new song ‘Rescued’ and they’ve also detailed their new studio album ‘But Here We Are.’
Featuring 10 tracks, ‘But Here We Are’ is released on Friday 2nd June 2023 and it’s their first new material since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March last year.
Thematically, the album is directly influenced by the band’s traumatic past year, and the opening lines of ‘Rescued’ seemingly reference Hawkins’ shock passing: “It came in a flash / It came out of nowhere / It happened so fast / And then it was over.”
Watch Foo Fighters’ ‘Rescued’ lyric video:
A description of the album reads: ‘‘But Here We Are’ is the new album from Foo Fighters, and marks the bands return after a year of staggering losses, personal introspection and bittersweet remembrances.
‘A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters have endured recently, ‘But Here We Are’ is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family. Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, the album opens with ‘Rescued,’ the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between.
‘‘But Here We Are’ is in nearly equal measure the 11th Foo Fighters album and the first chapter of the band’s new life. Sonically channelling the naivete of Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, ‘But Here We Are’ is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.’
‘But Here We Are’ is available to pre-order RIGHT HERE, with all pre-orders including 'Rescued' as an instant grat.
