Falling in Reverse guitarist Derek Jones has died at the age of 35, his band mate Ronnie Radke has confirmed.
Ronnie Radke took to Instagram in the early hours of this morning to share four photos of his Falling in Reverse band mate of 10 years.
He wrote the following devastating message: “I’ll never forget when you picked me up from jail In Your old tour van to start falling in reverse.
“Your spirit will be interwoven through the music I write forever. Rest In Peace Derek Jones. My heart is broken.”
The cause of Derek Jones' death hasn’t been revealed.
After Ronnie Radke conceived Falling In Reverse in prison, Derek Jones joined the band upon Radke's release in 2010 having quit the post hardcore band A Smile From the Trenches.
Alongside Radke, Derek Jones was the only other constant member of Falling in Reverse and appeared on all four of their studio albums – 2011’s ‘The Drug in Me Is You’, ‘Fashionably Late’ (2013), ‘Just Like You’ (2015) and ‘Coming Home’ (2017).
Prior to that, Jones released one album with A Smile from the Trenches - October 2009's 'Leave the Gambling for Vegas' - and they also unleashed a cover of Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance'.
Derek Jones was born on 5th June 1984 in Lake Forest, California and was initially a saxophonist before switching to guitar. He was a member of several bands throughout his adolescence before joining A Smile From the Trenches in 2007.
On 19th November 2019, Derek Jones’ life was struck by tragedy when his fiancée Christina Cetta died from cancer. Falling In Reverse had previously cancelled their autumn tour while Cetta was receiving treatment in Intensive Care.
Eight months earlier, Jones had set up a GoFundMe page for Cetta’s cancer treatment for metastatic cancer and Falling In Reverse gave away special shirts to fans who donated.
