Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler says he wants to lay down some music with his “idol” Dave Grohl.

Heaping praise on the Foo Fighters frontman, Steven said that, alongside Freddie Mercury, Dave is his musical hero and he’d love nothing more than to record on his Sound City soundboard.

Asked by ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones on his KLOS radio show whether he’s going to read Dave’s mum Virginia’s book ‘From Cradle To Stage’, Steven said: "Yes, I can't wait to read (the book) because I love Dave Grohl. He is my idol, besides Freddie Mercury, Dave Grohl rules.

"He went from the biggest band in the world, to putting an even bigger band in the world together. He does everything, he does that TV show about Sound City."

Continuing to heap praise on Dave, Steven added: "He's brilliant, I hope I get to meet him one day, and I would love to play on that board that he took from Sound City, I'd like to record on that.

"Me and you Steve, me and you on that Sound City board at Dave Grohl's. Dave, we're coming over, me and Steve Jones, is that cool? We'll see you shortly."

Having rehearsed with Guns N’ Roses for their Not In This Lifetime… Tour, Steven was replaced by Frank Ferrer for the lucrative tour.

Despite being ditched, he made four cameo appearances on the tour in Cincinnati, Nashville, Los Angeles and Buenos Aires guesting on the ‘Appetite For Destruction’ classics ‘Out ta Get Me’ and ‘My Michelle’.

Despite previously speaking candidly about the performances and revealing his ambitions to reunite with Guns N’ Roses once again, in March Adler told Rolling Stone he has been forced to stay quiet on the issue.

"I had the best experience last year playing with them last year," Adler said. "I wish Izzy (Stradlin) was there, but it was so great since I finally got to have some closure. It was wonderful.

“I don't have nothing else to say about it. I'm really sorry. That's all I can tell you. There's nothing to say. I literally, literally honest to god literally, I can't even tell you why I can't tell you any more. Literally, okay? I really can't. I just can't."

Guns N’ Roses play two dates at London Stadium this June. Standard Friday 16th June tickets are sold out but you can still buy tickets for Saturday 17th June and select packages from Kerrang! Radio Tickets now.
