Dimebag Darrell wrote his best riffs on the toilet, Vinnie Paul reveals
'That’s why my riffs are the sh*t!’
Ex Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul has revealed that his late-great brother and bandmate Dimebag Darrell wrote some of his greatest riffs while using the toilet.
Vinnie says he made the surprise discovery when he visited his younger sibling’s home and found a guitar and recording equipment in the bathroom.
Speaking about the abundance of riffs Dimebag laid down, Vinnie told Loudwire: “He’s got so much stuff, man. One of the things people don’t know about Dime, he had a guitar in his bathroom.
“I went in his bathroom one time and I was like, ‘He’s got a guitar, he’s got his little tape recorder – what’s that doing in here?’
“I said, ‘Dime, what’s the deal with guitar in the bathroom?’ He goes, ‘Man, that’s where I write all my riffs. That’s why my riffs are the sh*t!’”
Vinnie’s current band Hellyeah, also featuring Mudvayne’s Chad Gray and Nothingface’s Tom Maxwell, released their fifth studio album Unden!able back in June.
It contains a cover of Phil Collins’ ‘I Don’t Care Anymore’ featuring guitar riffs recorded by Dimebag before he was murdered in 2004.
