David Bowie Trouncing Bon Jovi In Chart Race

The record is storming towards the top spot

David Bowie’s first album in album almost a decade, ‘The Next Day’, is storming towards the number one spot on Sunday.

According to the Official Charts Company, the rock legend sold 56,000 copies of the album yesterday - the highest first day sales of any record this year.

Proving that the Thin White Duke is as popular as ever, ‘The Next Day’ is currently outselling second placed ‘What About Now’ by Bon Jovi by almost three copies to one.

If and when ‘The Next Day’ triumphs on Sunday it will be Bowie’s ninth number one album in UK and his first since 1993’s ‘Black Tie White Noise’.

Official Charts Company Managing Director, Martin Talbot, said: “Bowie is officially back! The Next Day is a true gift for all Bowie aficionados.

“It already sounds like a classic Bowie album – and its popularity this week is already showing that the great British public have taken it to their hearts.”
