They'll also be joined by Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsay Buckingham

Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age and Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsay Buckingham are set to join musical forces for a very special Grammys live performance!

The rock giants will perform a song together (strongly rumoured to be 'Mantra' from the Sound City movie soundtrack) as part of the “rousing” Grammys telecast finale on Sunday night (26th January).

Enthusing about the very special performance, Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich beamed: "We're incredibly excited about this number.

"There's nothing better than when the Grammys can rock out, and to have these artists all together on one stage, doing a number that, when they presented it to us, knocked us out, is going to turn out to be one of those Grammy moments that people talk about for a long time.

“Long live Trent, Josh, Dave and Lindsey and these great bands!"

Dave Grohl, of course, has close connections with both bands having lent his mercurial drumming skills to Nine Inch Nails’ 2005 opus ‘With Teeth’ plus QOTSA’s ‘Songs for the Deaf’ and last year’s ‘… Like Clockwork’.

With thirteen Grammy wins already under his belt, Grohl is up for two gongs - Best Rock Song for "Cut Me Some Slack" (along with Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear) and Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media for Sound City: Real To Reel.

Queens Of The Stone Age have nods for Best Rock Performance for "My God Is The Sun" and Best Rock Album for …Like Clockwork.

Two-time Grammy-winning group Nine Inch Nails are nominated for Best Alternative Music Album for Hesitation Marks.

The Grammys take place once again at The Staples Center in Los Angeles.
