Cradle of Filth and Ed Sheeran will finally unleash their musical collaboration this summer, Dani Filth has confirmed.
In a world exclusive backstage at Bloodstock 2021, Dani Filth told Kerrang! Radio’s Sophie K he was joining forces with “massive Cradle of Filth fan” Ed Sheeran for a new song.
"(Ed) said he'd do anything,” Dani told us. “Quite literally. He said he's a massive fan. He seems like a genuinely very nice guy actually."
Last August, Dani Filth told Sophie K in a new interview that he and Ed Sheeran had commenced work on the song, and that Cradle of Filth fans would “have to like it or lump it.”
Seven months later, on St Patrick’s Day last Friday (17th March 2022), Dani Filth shared a photo of himself and Ed in a Suffolk boozer called The Four Horseshoes where they were enjoying a meal and imbibing pints of Guinness.
This meeting has promoted Metal Hammer to ask Dani about an update on the Ed Sheeran collaboration.
Praising “real Suffolk boy” Ed, Dani said: “When he came to the studio that day, he didn’t come down with a cavalcade of reporters: he turned up on his own, guitar on his back, Cradle Of Filth hoodie on, and got on with it. It was f---ing great.”
Asked when it’s likely to be unleashed, Dani said: “Ed’s done all his parts. It’s just bass and vocals for me to do on my return to England after Easter.
“It’s exactly how you can imagine it’ll sound, if you can imagine Ed Sheeran with Cradle Of Filth. He plays acoustic guitar on it, but it’s heavy: it’s got a blast beat in there. The plan is to do it as a charity single. We’re hoping for it to be out by the summer.”
