WATCH: Slipknot's Corey Taylor performs piano tribute to Paul Gray to mark his 46th birthday
This is beautiful
Slipknot’s Corey Taylor marked what would have been Paul Gray’s 46th birthday by performing a stunning piano tribute.
Taking to Instagram yesterday (8th April), Corey posted a short video of himself tinkling the ivories alongside the caption ‘Happy Birthday.#2’.
Watch the poignant performance here:
A founding member of Slipknot, Paul Gray died on 24th May 2010 at the TownePlace Suites Hotel in Johnston, Iowa. He was just 38 years old.
Last month, Corey Taylor also posted a cover of Audioslave’s 2002 track ‘Getaway Car’ in tribute to the late-great Chris Cornell. He wrote alongside the video: ‘A little tribute to a sorely missed artist. #cornell’
Meanwhile, last week Corey gave another update on Slipknot’s sixth studio album saying they’re tentatively working towards a 2019 release date.
“The guys are writing tons of music and I’ve written lyrics to almost all of it and we’re going to start trying to put together demos here and there with the time off that I have and really try to get ahead of the curve as far as what happens next,” Corey told Billboard.
“I know that we’re gonna try and put an album out next year – however, that is all speculation. The best way to make God laugh is to announce your plans out loud. So, I’m just going with the flow. The plan right now is next year, but that is a huge plan because we still haven’t narrowed anything down, so we will definitely see what happens.”
Corey comes to the UK this summer for a trio of sold-out shows with Stone Sour taking in Manchester, London and Nottingham.
