Stone Sour lynchpin Corey Taylor has revealed the title of the band’s new album.
Speaking at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California over the weekend Corey said the album is entitled ‘Hydrograd’ and insisted that “people are going to lose their minds” when they hear it.
“I can tell you that you should be very, very, very excited for what’s in store,” Corey enthused to Rock Cellar Magazine. “We are doing everything old school - we’re recording it live then layering stuff on top of it.
“We are doing a song a day, we’ve already done nine songs. We’re about halfway done. And, yeah, it is incredible; it’s the best stuff we’ve ever written.”
He continued: “The album is called ‘Hydrograd’ – one word ‘Hydrograd’ – and there’s a long story behind that but I'm not going to tell it today. It is awesome, it’s amazing and people are going to lose their minds when they hear it.”
Stone Sour entered the studio at the start of January to commence work on the follow-up to the second House of Gold & Bones instalment, which was released back in April.
Although there is no concrete release schedule yet, the band are reportedly eyeing up a summer release date for the album via Roadrunner Records.
Waxing lyrical about the record last summer, Corey told Billboard: "I'm chomping at the bit to record it and get it ready to go. The cool thing is that it's got a lot of different directions, but at its core it's very hard rock, and I mean that in an almost sort of modern/classic sense.
“There are some hints of punk in there. There's some cool hard rock/heavy metal. There's just all these really cool elements that we've never really allowed ourselves to go into.
“We're really to kind of push even further with this. It'll feel like it's all over the map, but it will be very unifying when everyone hears it. It's exciting, man."
Roll on the summer!
