Classic Misfits line-up reuniting for the first time in 33 years
Glenn Danzig is joining Jerry Only and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein
The classic Misfits line-up are reuniting for their first shows together in 33 years.
Cofounding vocalist Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only together with guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein will play two gigs at Riot Fest in Denver and Chicago this coming September.
It will mark the first time Glenn Danzig has shared the stage with co-founding member Jerry Only since the band announced their split live on stage at Greystone Hall in Detroit in October 1983.
Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein was pivotal in the Misfits reunion in 1995 before leaving in 2001. Doyle and Danzig have performed together numerous times in recent years.
The announcement comes just two years after Danzig filed a lawsuit against Only claiming he cut him out of profits from the band’s iconic merchandise.
Central District of California Judge Gary Klausner dismissed the case on the grounds that Danzig failed to convince the court what terms of the 1994 contract agreement Only had allegedly breached.
Six months after the bad blood between the two, Only said he would be up for a classic Misfits reunion if it felt right.
"The thing is, I have an obligation to our fans,” he told Livewire. “A lot of our fans are young and the thing is, we’re a very positive organisation.
"If we bring Glenn back in and he’s going to bring that dark, that real black stuff to the table, I don’t want that. All the money in the world ain’t gonna make me sell out my fans."
