Bloodstock announces Saturday night headliner and special guest
Joining Judas Priest and Devin Townsend
Bloodstock Open Air has announced that recently reunited Danish mentallers Mercyful Fate will headline the Saturday night at next August’s Catton Park extravaganza.
Fronted by King Diamond, Mercyful Fate confirmed they were reforming last summer for a series of live shows and their first new studio album since ‘9’ more than two decades ago.
Obviously, the coronavirus pandemic has hampered their touring plans for 2020, so they will now be headlining the Ronnie James Dio Stage at Bloodstock Open Air on Saturday 14th August 2021 in a UK exclusive performance.
King Diamond enthuses: “It is with sinister pleasure Mercyful Fate will finally bring the Devil himself to Bloodstock Summer ‘21. We cannot wait and neither can he. It’s gonna be dark as Hell.”
Landing the prestigious Saturday special guest slot at Norwegian symphonic black metallers Dimmu Borgir, who are currently hard at work on their eleventh studio album – the follow-up to May 2018’s ‘Eonian.’
Dimmu Borgir comment: “UK! After our triumphant London show this January, we will be back at your shores next year. See you at BLOODSTOCK in August 2021!”
Following the cancellation of this summer’s event, Bloodstock Open Air returns with an extra day next year and takes place from Wednesday 11th to Sunday 15th August 2021. Tickets are on sale from Kerrang! Radio Tickets now.
Many of the artists on bill for this year have agreed to perform again in 2021, including headliners Devin Townsend and Judas Priest, who will bring Bloodstock to a rip-roaring close on the Sunday night.
Other acts on the mightily impressive weekend line-up include Saxon, Skindred, Diamond Head, Paradise Lost, Orange Goblin, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Life Of Agony, Bury Tomorrow, Black Dahlia Murder, Jinjer, Vio-Lence, Sacred Reich, Gloryhammer, Dark Tranquillity, Butcher Babies, Cattle Decapitation, Bloodywood, Memoriam, Ramage Inc, Green Lung, Conjurer, The Night Flight Orchestra, Unleash The Archers, Sylosis, Toxic Holocaust, Winterfylleth, Nekrogoblikon, The Crawling, Raised By Owls, Anakim, Acid Reign, Svalbard, Soen, Dog Tired, Bailer, Blasphemer, Black Tongue, Liberty Lies, Pist, and Sharks In Your Mouth
