The UK’s heaviest heavy metal festival Bloodstock has announced its first bands for 2017.

Topping the Ronnie James Dio Stage bill on the Friday night are ferocious Swedish Viking metallers Amon Amarth.

Promising a typically brutal performance, vocalist Johan Hegg says: "What's up UK! On August 11th 2017, we are invading Bloodstock! It's going to be a f****ing awesome party, with immense bloodshed and you better be there!"

Also on the Friday bill are German power metallers Blind Guardian in what will be a UK festival exclusive, fearsome Bay Area thrash behemoths Testament and the mighty Whitechapel.

Hardcore bastions Hatebreed are confirmed for the Saturday, with Possessed and Hell also joining them on the Ronnie James Dio Stage throughout the day.

Taking place at Catton Park from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th August 2017, tickets to Bloodstock are on sale from Kerrang! Radio Tickets now.
