Black Stone Cherry have dubbed the UK a second home and “the saving grace of our band.”

Speaking to Kerrang! Radio’s Jack Wood the day after the Download Festival triumph, singer singer Chris Robertson and guitarist Ben Wells waxed lyrical about Dear Old Blighty.

“I think that if the band wasn’t based out of Edmonton, Kentucky, it would be based out of the United Kingdom. Honest to God, man,” Chris enthused.

“You guys, the fans over here and just the way everyone has always treated us over here, I think it’s safe to say (the UK) has been the saving grace of our band a few times, y’know, that’s kept us pushing.

“Put it this way, we headlined the arenas the first time in 2014 – that was in then November – we went home and in January got dropped from our record label. So, we headlined arenas but got dropped from a record label and we were like ‘damn, man.’ But do you know what? We’ve got the UK, we’ve got our fans there (so) we know we’re going to be ok. And that literally was the conversation we had. We were ready for the change in the record label but it was one of those moments where when it happened you were like relieved but then you’re kind of like ‘where do we go now? What do we do now?’

“It was immediate y’know, phone calls coming in from certain places and we ended up with Mascot and it’s a beautiful relationship that we have now. We’ve been able to be very blessed and build such a following over here and just an open communication with the fans that we have. It’s one of the coolest things ever that we have.”

Black Stone Cherry return to the UK in December 2018 for a seven-date arena tour with support from their friends The Cadillac Three and Monster Truck.
