Biffy Clyro, Manics, Arctic Monkeys Triumph At The Q Awards

Biffy Clyro, Manic Street Preachers and Arctic Monkeys were among the big winners at the Q Awards in London this afternoon.

!Capping off a sensational year for the trio, Biffy scooped the Best Album award for ‘Opposites’ at the Grosvenor House Hotel bash.

Arctic Monkeys took home the Best Track title for ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ while Manic Street Preachers’ ‘Show Me The Wonder’ was named Best Video.

Other winners included Jake Bugg (Best New Act), Glastonbury Festival (Best Event), Foals (Best Live Act), Vampire Weekend (Best Act In The World Today) and John Cooper Clarke (Poet Laureate).

Career-spanning awards were also dished out to Robbie Williams (Q Idol), Chrissie Hynde (Classic Songwriter), Suede (Q Icon) and Pet Shop Boys (Outstanding Contribution To Music).

Commenting on this year’s awards, Q’s senior editor Matt Mason said: “It's been a privilege to celebrate another brilliant year for music.

“We keep being told that these are tough times for the industry, but the evidence here suggests the opposite. The artists honoured today reflect the variety and richness of the current musical landscape.”

The Q Awards ceremony was once again hosted by Al Murray and guest presenters included Tinie Tempah, Example, Wretch 32, Dizzee Rascal and Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood.
