Biffy Clyro are 'extremely open' to Frances Bean Cobain collaboration
It would be an 'honour', they say
Biffy Clyro said they would be ‘honoured’ to record music with Frances Bean Cobain.
The Scottish rockers release their MTV Unplugged album this Friday (25th May), and say they watched Nirvana’s legendary 1993 MTV Unplugged performance before they took to The Roundhouse stage last November for inspiration.
Frances Bean Cobain, who has been uploading song covers and original compositions to Instagram over the past few months, revealed she was a huge Biffy Clyro fan back in 2012.
Upon hearing the news of her fandom, singer Simon Neil, who sports an ‘In Utero’ tattoo on his left arm, told Absolute Radio: “It kind of took us aback. It’s bizarre to comprehend but a nice thing to say.”
Now, in an interview with Bang Showbiz, drummer Ben Johnston said Biffy Clyro would definitely collaborate with Frances Bean Cobain if the opportunity arose.
"Working with Frances would be a massive honour,” Ben said. "I think it was back at one of the NME or Q Awards and we bumped into her mother and she cornered us and said, 'oh, my daughter is a huge fan of your band.'
"We were like, wow, heart in mouth type stuff, the actual spawn of Kurt Cobain likes your band.
"That is quite an incredible thing to hear. But of course, we would be extremely open to that."
Featuring stripped back versions of anthems including ‘The Captain’, ‘Black Chandelier’, ‘Mountains’ and ‘Many of Horror’ together with a cover of The Beach Boys classic ‘God Only Knows’ and new original song called ‘Different Kind of Love’, Biffy Clyro’s ‘MTV Unplugged: Live At Roundhouse London’ is released on Friday 25th May on digital, CD, CD/DVD and a special vinyl/CD/DVD boxset.
The trio then head out on a sold-out acoustic tour this coming September to promote the album taking in shows in Belfast, Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester and London.
