Axl Rose 'Knocks Fan's Teeth Out' In Australia
The frontman is facing possible legal proceedings
Axl Rose is facing possible legal proceedings after he allegedly knocked a fan’s teeth out with his microphone at a Guns N’ Roses gig in Australia on Saturday night (9th March).
Midway through the band’s sold-out performance at Perth Arena, Axl threw his cordless microphone into the crowd, however, according to 39-year-old fan Darren Wright the missile hit him square on the mouth.
Mr Wright claims that the microphone cut his mouth, chipped a tooth and knocked a chunk out of another.
He told The Western Mail: "With the bright lights and explosions, I couldn't see anything. The next thing I knew, I was whacked in the mouth. I thought I had been punched.
“I was quite stunned and it took a few seconds to realise what was going on. I could feel bits of teeth in my mouth. Then someone is climbing through my legs to grab the microphone."
Although he accepts that the incident was accidental and he doesn’t “harbour any ill feelings”, Mr Wright has spoken to a law firm to start legal proceedings against Axl seeking $5,000 damages to pay for the repair work.
“Those cordless microphones are not light. I'm surprised it didn't do more damage. At the very least, I want someone to pay to get my teeth fixed," he said.
Mr Wright added that Guns N’ Roses’ tour promoter had been in touch to offer him a signed microphone as an apology.
"I don't think the microphone is going to fix my teeth or pay for the dentist," he said. "I'm a father of four on a single income doing it hard in Perth."
