Four years on from their last bill-topping performance, Avenged Sevenfold will headline Download Festival for a second time next summer.
The Huntington Beach metallers will headline the Donington Park rock extravaganza on Friday 8th June joining Sunday night headliner Ozzy Osbourne, who was confirmed at the start of the week.
Avenged Sevenfold said: “We are more than honoured to be a part of this legendary show and line up. Being asked to headline Download for the second time is a career highlight. We would like to thank our UK A7X family.”
Since their last Download slot, Avenged Sevenfold unleashed their critically lauded seventh studio album ‘The Stage’ last October – the follow up to 2013’s number one album ‘Hail To The King’.
An expanded Deluxe Edition of ‘The Stage’ featuring covers of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’, The Rolling Stones’ ‘As Tears Go By’ and more will be released on Friday 7th December.
Download Festival promoter Andy Copping says: “A real career highlight of mine was giving Avenged Sevenfold their first ever UK festival headline slot, and I’m thrilled to welcome them back.
“You don’t often see bands like Avenged Sevenfold top the charts, but much like seeing them live, they’re not to be underestimated.”
Download Festival takes place at Donington Park from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June 2018. Standard weekend and RIP tickets are on sale right now - head to Kerrang! Radio Tickets for yours.
The third and final headliner is expected to be announced in the coming days. Last year’s event was headlined by System of a Down, Biffy Clyro and Aerosmith.
