Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce says the band have finished writing material for their fifth studio album.

Less than two years after he left, the Yorkshire metalcore merchants welcomed vocalist Danny Worsnop back into the fold last autumn and have made no secret of the fact they’re working on new songs.

Just days after Danny re-joined, From First To Last vocalist/guitarist and acclaimed producer Matt Good revealed on Twitter that the band had already recorded new material, writing: “Mixing an amazing new asking Alexandria song at the moment featuring the return of Danny, who absolutely crushed the vocals. Damn damn.”

Then in January, Danny, who is balancing the band with a solo career, teased new Asking Alexandra music by sharing a snippet of a gloriously brutal song on Instagram.

Now, in a fresh interview with Finland’s KaaosTV, Ben Bruce has confirmed the follow-up to 2016’s ‘The Black’ is completely written and they have some huge things on the horizon.

Asked about the clip Danny shared, Ben said: “We're holding our cards close to our chest right now. We're not going to give too much away.

“Obviously, that was music that we had written. Whether it makes the album or not, we'll see.

"The whole album's written and is ready to be recorded properly. And then we have some huge touring opportunities in the works that we are working on right now, so it's going to be exciting.”

Ben also revealed that this is the hardest he’s ever worked on an album: “I was, like, 'This has to be better than anything we've ever written.' So I spent months locked away in the studio – all night, all day.

“I used to go into the studio at lunchtime and not get home until lunchtime the next day. For months, I was on that brutal schedule. But it's been worth it."
